Bactofos Plus 50g is a water-soluble veterinary antibiotic formulated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections in poultry and swine. Mycoplasmosis and Chronic Respiratory Disease

Mycoplasma organisms are an important cause of respiratory disease in poultry. Affected birds may display coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, swollen facial areas, reduced appetite or difficulty breathing.

Bactofos Plus 50g contains tylosin together with fosfomycin and is indicated for susceptible cases of mycoplasmosis and chronic respiratory disease.

Respiratory symptoms may have several causes. Birds that are severely ill, deteriorating rapidly or failing to respond to treatment should receive appropriate veterinary assessment.

Colibacillosis

Bactofos Plus is also indicated for colibacillosis, a bacterial condition associated with pathogenic strains of Escherichia coli. Colibacillosis may occur as a primary infection or alongside respiratory and other health problems in poultry.

Correct diagnosis, hygiene, ventilation, clean drinking water and appropriate flock management remain important alongside antibiotic treatment.

Coryza, Fowl Typhoid and Avian Cholera

The registered indications for Bactofos Plus 50g also include coryza, fowl typhoid and avian cholera where the causative bacteria are sensitive to fosfomycin and tylosin.

These can be serious diseases, particularly where several birds become ill or mortality occurs. Veterinary investigation is recommended where disease spreads rapidly through a flock.

Directions for Use

Use only as directed.

Small Operations

Mix:

1g Bactofos Plus per 1 litre of drinking water.

A 50g pack will therefore prepare approximately 50 litres of medicated drinking water at this mixing rate.

Large Operations

Administer:

160mg Bactofos Plus per kg live body mass through the drinking water.

Treatment Duration

Administer Bactofos Plus 50g for 3 to 5 consecutive days.

Prepare fresh medicated drinking water daily. During treatment, the medicated water should be supplied as the drinking-water source to ensure that the animals receive the intended treatment.
