CalmEze Plus EQ Powder Sachets are a nutritional calming aid developed for horses experiencing stress, nervousness, anxiety or increased excitability. The palatable powder combines Peptazine, L-tryptophan, L-theanine and selected B vitamins to support relaxation while allowing the horse to remain alert and responsive.

The convenient box contains 30 individually portioned 50 g sachets, making it practical for both occasional stressful events and longer periods where daily supplementation is required. The powder can simply be mixed into the horse’s normal feed.

Horses can react strongly to changes in their surroundings, routine or handling. Travelling, competitions, clipping, grooming, veterinary procedures, new environments and behavioural challenges can all contribute to nervousness or anxiety.

The formula is intended to provide nutritional support during these situations without simply dulling the horse.

Peptazine

Peptazine is a hydrolysed peptide ingredient and forms the largest active component of the powder.

Each gram contains 54 mg Peptazine.

The manufacturer describes Peptazine as helping influence pathways associated with GABA, an important neurotransmitter involved in regulating nervous-system activity and relaxation. This provides nutritional support to horses struggling to remain settled during stressful situations.

L-Tryptophan

L-tryptophan is an essential amino acid and a precursor used by the body in the production of serotonin.

Serotonin is involved in normal mood and behavioural regulation, making tryptophan a commonly used ingredient in nutritional calming supplements for horses.

Each gram of powder provides 12.5 mg L-tryptophan.

L-Theanine

The formula also contains L-theanine, providing 12.5 mg per gram.

L-theanine is associated with neurotransmitter pathways involving GABA, serotonin and dopamine. Its inclusion complements tryptophan and Peptazine to provide broader nutritional support for relaxation and normal responses to stressful situations.

B Vitamins for Nervous-System Support

Three B vitamins are included in the equine powder.

Vitamin B1, or thiamine, contributes to normal energy metabolism within the nervous system.

Vitamin B3, or niacin, plays a role in normal cellular and neurological function.

Vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, is an important cofactor in pathways involved in serotonin production and therefore complements the L-tryptophan within the formulation.

CalmEze Plus EQ Powder Sachets Feeding Guidelines

The manufacturer’s current feeding guide is based on bodyweight:

Mix the required amount thoroughly into the horse’s normal feed.

Administer the powder one to two hours before the stressful event or activity.

If the desired response is not achieved, supplementation may be repeated. When the stressful period continues for longer than one day, the manufacturer advises continuing with one dose daily for the duration of the stressful period.

For long-term supplementation, speak to your veterinarian.

A box containing 30 x 50 g sachets provides a total of 1.5 kg.

At 25 g per day, the box provides approximately 60 daily doses.

At 50 g per day, it provides approximately 30 daily doses. These durations correspond with the manufacturer’s current product leaflet.
